2507 stainless steel (UNS S32750) is a super duplex stainless steel that combines the advantages of austenite and ferrite. It has high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability and is widely used in harsh environments. The following are its core features:

1. Chemical composition (key elements)

Chromium (Cr): 24-26% → High corrosion resistance

Nickel (Ni): 6-8% → Stabilizes austenite phase

Molybdenum (Mo): 3-4% → Enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion

Nitrogen (N): 0.24-0.32% → Improves strength and inhibits σ phase precipitation

Carbon (C): ≤0.03% → Low carbon reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion

2. Main performance characteristics

(1) Excellent corrosion resistance
Resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC): Better than 304/316 austenitic stainless steel.

Pitting resistance (PREN ≥ 40): PREN (pitting equivalent) = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N, suitable for seawater and chemical environments.

Acid and alkali resistance: Good resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, organic acids, etc.

(2) High strength and toughness
Tensile strength: ≥800 MPa (twice that of 304 stainless steel).

Yield strength: ≥550 MPa, suitable for high-stress components.

Low-temperature toughness: Better than ordinary duplex steel (such as 2205).

(3) Weldability
Heat input needs to be controlled (TIG welding is recommended), and no heat treatment is required after welding (but the 475℃ brittle range needs to be avoided).

(4) High temperature resistance
Long-term use temperature: -50℃ to 300℃ (short-term up to 350℃).

Oxidation resistance at high temperatures is better than 316L.

3. Typical application areas
Marine engineering: seawater desalination equipment, submarine pipelines, and ship components.

Petrochemical industry: heat exchangers, storage tanks, high-chlorine environment reactors.

Energy and environmental protection: flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system, nuclear power condenser.

Papermaking industry: bleaching equipment, pulp transportation pipelines.
